⚙️ What can you do with each number?
Every number in the list has its own row. Here is everything you can do with it.1️⃣ Activate the number for AI
What it does: Turns on AI capabilities for this number so it can be used with AI voice agents. When you buy a number it starts as a plain phone number — it can ring, but it has no AI behind it. Clicking Activate For AI connects the number to the AI calling system. When to use it: You want an AI agent to pick up calls on this number, or you want to make automated outbound calls from it. After activation: The button disappears. The Inbound and Outbound dropdowns will now show your AI agents as options.
2️⃣ Link a 10DLC campaign (A2P registration)
What it does: Registers your number under an approved SMS campaign so your text messages reach recipients without being blocked.US phone carriers require businesses to register their phone numbers before sending text messages at scale. This process is called A2P 10DLC registration. If you skip it, your SMS messages will likely be filtered or blocked. Each number shows one of three statuses:
When to use it: Your number shows “Not A2P-linked” and you need to send SMS messages from it.
How to do it: Click the 10DLC button on that number, pick a campaign from the list, and confirm. The status will update to “In Progress” and eventually “Linked” once approved.
3️⃣ Set inbound routing
What it does: Decides where incoming calls and messages on this number go — to a specific human, or to an AI agent.Options:
- Route to a User — pick any active team member. When someone calls this number, that person’s line rings.
- Route to an AI Agent — pick an inbound AI agent. When someone calls, the AI picks up and handles the conversation automatically.
- No routing — remove the assignment. The number falls back to the shared pool behavior.
4️⃣ Set outbound AI agent
What it does: Assigns an AI agent to make outbound automated calls from this number. When your system needs to place an automated call — for a follow-up, a reminder, or a campaign — it uses the outbound agent assigned to that number. When to use it: You want one specific number to always be used when a particular AI agent calls people. Requirements: The number must first be activated for AI. If it hasn’t been activated, this dropdown is locked.
5️⃣ Set chatbot agent
What it does: Assigns an automated chatbot to handle incoming text messages on this number. When someone texts this number, the chatbot agent takes over the conversation automatically — answering questions, collecting info, or routing the person to the right place. Requirements: The number must be A2P-linked before a chatbot can be assigned. This ensures your automated texts are properly registered with carriers.
